APAC Regional Head of Corporate FX Sales

Job Description

The Regional Product Head of Sales manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization as a whole. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital or business operations. Typically, a direct report to an EB role and sits on the highest functional leadership team within a region,, or global business.

Responsibilities:
  • With full regional oversight of the business the role is responsible for originating, proposing and delivering solutions, corporate finance and risk management to our corporate client base across multiple asset classes
  • Responsible for coordinating with other regional mandates and the origination of strategic transactions across applicable jurisdictions
  • Ability to articulate a clear strategy to grow business and client foot print
  • Develop a corporate finance coverage of target accounts within the region
  • Fully seeks to originate a broader set of transactions across multiple product desks within the businesses
  • Build senior level relationships internally and externally
  • Successful understanding and leadership of a geographically diverse and multi-product business within the region
  • Formulate a plan to meet business and regional targets with an effectively developed business plan and ability to execute
  • Foster an environment of collaboration through interfacing with appropriate internal partners to enhance share of mind with clients, increase dialogue and to deliver on expertise
  • Lead team to originate and identify client needs related to exposure management, structured financing, asset-liability mismatches, yield enhancement, subsidiary financing, excess and trapped liquidity solutions, etc.
  • The mandate seeks to establish direct coverage of key decision makers in the target accounts
  • Work closely with appropriate teams to build and develop a platform for clients
  • Ensure and facilitate optimal discussions with the clients
  • Additionally given the regional specific remit, the incumbent must work with many product and structuring desks
  • Coordinate and cross sell with other Corporate Sales mandates (globally and regionally)
  • Provide oversight of team's origination and sales activities including tight focus on controls
  • Coordinate recruitment, perform interviews, track and maintain staff performance, document and provide annual evaluations, develop proposals for merit increases, annual bonus and officer elections. Maximize the overall effectiveness of the team by contributing own expertise and leveraging the skills of team members.
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm's reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi's Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' managerial experience
  • Ability to originate across a broad suite of transactions that are relevant to the region's Corporate clients
  • Track record in identifying latent client needs and working with partners to deliver appropriate solutions
  • Demonstrated client facing skills
  • Intellectual grasp of the industry and with the ability to anticipate and lead the organizational response to future changes
Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred; managerial experience
