Roles & Responsibilities

· To perform periodic inspection and/or on request inspection to determine the condition as basis for assessment of integrity of painting/coating systems applied on existing onshore and offshore facilities, including but not limited to the followings:

1. Above water structures of fixed offshore platforms comprising of primary, secondary members.

2. Bulk storage tanks, piping/fittings, onshore pipelines, pressure vessels, utility equipment, and miscellaneous construction, flare stacks, etc. at onshore oil/gas terminals.

3. To perform quality control function in major and minor blasting/painting exercises at onshore and offshore work sites.

· These include witnessing, verifying & documenting the work at various inspection points:

1. Environment conditions prior to commencement of any blasting or painting activities

2. Surface preparations and cleanliness

3. Condition of paint components, solvents and grid materials

4. Expiry date of paints

5. Correct mixing of paint components

6. Overall conditions of blasting and painting equipment and supporting

7. In process blasting and painting applications

8. Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) readings

9. Evaluating cleanliness between paint

10. Pinhole & holiday testing

11. Adhesion testing

12. Correct painting scheme

13. Adequate curing time

14. Qualification and experience of blasters and painters

15. As stated in the paint manufacturer specification etc.

· To perform condition monitoring and paint failure analysis on existing painting systems on offshore topside facilities and above water structural platforms for condition based maintenance programme or monitoring exercises.

· To prepare daily progress report to record usage of painting materials, inspection activities carried out, etc.

· The final reports shall be prepared brief and accurate with recommendations. The report shall include some photographs of defective/deteriorated area/section/unit being described and to include lineworks or structural drawings/sketches. All forms of reported corrosion condition on painted steel surface shall be reported using ASTM D610 rust grade referance.

· Responsible to check and calibrate all inspection tools and equipment prior to all inspection jobs to be carried out. All defective inspection tools shall be rectified/replaced.

· Co-ordinating, witnessing and documenting paint trials.

· To perform other relevant tasks deemed necessary by the COMPANY and within the ambit of this Contract.

· To inspect at COMPANY-appointed fabricator’s yard line pipe coatings, wrappings, storage and preservation.

· To be on-hand during receipt and/or loadout of all line pipes, bends and other COMPANY supplied Materials at the designated port, to verify the condition of all pipes and records of the joint number and identification number

· Inspection of surplus material received immediately after being delivered to (coating) Contractor’s yard and issuing inspection report highlighting any damage or defect found.

· To thoroughly inspect and verify all aspects of cleaning methods, internal coatings and external coatings of line pipe.

· To verify and witness coating laboratory tests as stipulated in client’s specification or ASTM Standards.
