The NanyangTechnological University NTI-NTU Corporate Laboratory is lookingfor a highly motivated and experienced candidate to join us asSenior Research Fellow (SRF). The SRF will joinin a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research project fund throughthe Industry-Alignment Funding scheme, aiming to developed novelcoatings for biomedical implants.

The SRF willbe responsible to design, develop, characterize and optimize theformulation of bioactive coatings for biomedical implants, as wellas to manage the coordination of research between differentstakeholders in order to achieve projectKPIs.

KeyResponsibilities

• Conductthorough literature review and generate periodicupdates.
• Design, synthesize, characterize andoptimize functional coating for biomedical implants, withparticular emphasis on osteogenesisability.
• Carry out assays and analysis tooptimize and control functional performance (e.g. coatingthickness, uniformity, assess active agents delivery effectiveness,degradation profile, mechanical strengthetc).
• Carry out biochemical and biologicalassays to assess bioavailability and cytotoxicity of the developedproducts.
• Ensure compliance with health andsafety regulations in all aspects of the researchwork.
• Develop and optimizeprotocols.
• Supervise junior research staff,undergraduate and graduate studentprojects.
• Manage logistical issues andlaboratory inventory.
• Coordinate collaborativework within multidisciplinary team and externalcollaborators.
• Generate periodic progressreport as required by fundingagency.
• Disseminate research results inreputable peer-reviewed journals and/or internationalconference.

JobRequirements

• PhD inMaterials Science/Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or relatedfields.
• Experience in biomaterial,nanomaterials synthesis, functionalization, and characterization(e.g. TEM, XRD, DLS, FTIR, TGA, ICP,etc).
• Experience working with biopolymers, thinfilm coatings. Experience with osteogenesis relevant assays andtechniques preferred.
• Experience in mammaliancell culture, tissue engineering, implants. Experience with animalwork will be a bonus.
• A strong track record ofresearch ability and demonstrated contribution to research (e.g.,research publications, grant applications,patents).
• Good communication and writingskills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, andability to work in a diverse, international, and inter-disciplinaryresearch environment.
• Ability to takeinitiative to improve processes and troubleshootproblems.
• Ability to work well with multiplecompeting priorities, manage projects and meetdeadlines.
• A good team player and able to workindependently with minimumsupervision.
