ABOUT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION (NIE)

The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites suitable candidates to join the Office of Education Research (OER) as a Project Officer to work on a study involving the use of a game app for teaching and learning in the classroom.

The OER oversees the management of education research across the Institute, to enhance the Institute’s strategic aims of learning, teaching and research as well as to enhance its standing as a leading international research institution.

In this study, prototype versions of the app will be tested with schools. The officer is expected to assist the project team during said test sessions and is also expected to collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.

This is a contract position till 30 June 2024 and may be renewed depending on project funding, individual’s performance, and the needs of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data management, including data entry, data analysis and data checking.
• Assist with collecting and analysing qualitative data (e.g. from interviews, focus group discussions) as well as quantitative data (e.g. from pre- and post-surveys).
• Assist with compiling project findings and in writing final report.
• Work closely with key management and administrative colleagues in OER.
• Other duties and administrative functions as assigned by the Reporting Officer.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mathematics, Physics or Data Science.
• Experience in writing research papers and reports.
• Experience in conducting qualitative as well as quantitative research.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and organization skills.
• Self-motivated, independent and a strong team player.
• Able to problem solve.
• Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.

Other Information

NIE staff can take chartered buses at their own expense from or near their home to the NIE campus. This is subject to the availability of seats.
