About Our Client

My client is a global leader in the B2B distribution of electrical products, solutions, and related services. They distributes a wide range of electrical products, including cables, lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, renewable energies, building management systems, and specialty products. They also offer related services such as technical advice, logistics, and training.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager(Lighting) with a focus on Lighting Sales to join the team. As an integral part of their organization, you will play a key role in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities within the Singapore market.

Job Description

  • Identify primary customer segments within the lighting industry ecosystem, giving special attention to contractors, end-users, lighting designers, architects, and ID & M&E consultants.
  • Drive the expansion of Principle products & solutions in specified market verticals, encompassing industrial, pharmaceutical, education, office, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Take full responsibility for the Principle portfolio, collaborating closely with the organization's team to execute go-to-market strategies effectively.
  • Leverage the strengths of the organization's-Principle USPs and exploit the market position as a versatile lighting solution provider to strengthen the Principle partnership.
  • Cultivate and build relationships with influential stakeholders in critical B2G & B2B projects.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of promising lighting projects, focusing on specific sub-market verticals such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, data centers, and warehouses.
  • Negotiate and finalize projects, ensuring a balanced approach between sales revenue and margin, with a sharp focus on short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Attain assigned revenue and margin KPIs by employing provided tools, market intelligence, and innovative solutions.
  • Offer comprehensive technical support to project-related specifiers, addressing aspects like product selection, lighting design, LPD calculations, and Green Mark recommendations.
  • Analyze competitive landscapes and market trends, providing valuable insights to internal stakeholders to refine go-to-market strategies.
  • Conduct compelling presentations on products and solutions to decision-makers, emphasizing key aspects like sustainability, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provide constructive feedback to Principles on product solutions and the relevant competitive advantages, reinforcing the organization & Principles' market position.
  • Grasp the organization's business unit propositions in other areas and collaborate effectively to showcase the organization's Distinctive Qualities.
  • Actively participate in learning and development initiatives, staying updated on emerging technologies like smart lighting, IoT, and Industry 4.0 to enhance the organization's value proposition.
  • Challenge conventional norms and established players by educating customers on the latest advancements in lighting technology.
  • Manage costing and price negotiations with customers, adhering closely to commercial guidelines.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment within the team, fostering trust, continuous learning, and optimal performance.

The Successful Applicant

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Sales, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in lighting sales and business development.
  • Robust connections with the End-Users and contractor segments in Singapore, coupled with a keen insight into the Lighting Designers, M&E Consultants, and Architects segments.
  • Strong understanding of the lighting industry and market trends.
  • In-depth comprehension of brand-selling principles and the development of go-to-market strategies, with a primary emphasis on the quality of solutions, products, and brand enhancement.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with smart lighting, IoT, and Industry 4.0 technologies is a plus.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with well-established international lighting brands that prioritize solution-selling approaches.
